  Violet A. Finnell Meyer, 84, long time resident of Cass County, also spent a short time in the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center, passed away on Monday morning, February 17, 2014, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
  
   Violet Arlene Finnell was born, the only daughter of John E. and Mary Ellen (Sullivan) Finnell, on March 6, 1929 in Clarmont, Missouri.  She and her family moved to south of Cumberland when she turned one, and after several moves, settled in Cass County while she was in the eighth grade.  She later graduated with the Corning High School Class of 1947.
   
   She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in her younger years.  She taught country school west of Cumberland, south of Lyman.
   
   Violet met the love of her life, Gordon "Skip" Meyer and they were married in the Lyman Gospel Hall on July 18, 1951.  The couple lived in the Lyman area, where they were blessed with their two sons and two daughters.  They moved to Grant in 1995.
   
   She will be remembered for being a wonderful wife, mother and home maker.  She enjoyed her neighborhood Garden Club and fellowshipping at the Lyman Gospel Hall.
   
   Her survivors include her husband, Skip of Atlantic; two sons, Randy F. Meyer and wife, Lori of Fremont, NE and Duane M. Meyer and wife, Monna of Lohrville, IA; her daughters, Suzanne and Ruth Meyer of Atlantic; her grandchildren, including four grandsons, Private Dustin Meyer of Millard, NE, Jesse Meyer and significant other, Jenny Andrews of Millard, NE, Nicholas Meyer and wife, Jessica and daughter, Charlie of Fort Dodge, IA, Chad Meyer and wife Jessica and children, Carlie, Aston, Mya and Kayden of Lohrville, IA, twin brothers, Walter Finnell and wife, Norma of Conway, IA and Willard "Bill" Finnell and wife, Jan of Clinton, MO; and a sister-in-law, Marion Finnell of Atlantic.
   
   Violet was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sisters-in-law, Stanley Finnell and wife, Grace, Ivan Finnell and wife, June, and wife, Phyllis, Marvin Finnell; Robert Finnell and wife Maxine, Kenneth Finnell and wife, Ruth, and George Finnell, who died in infancy.
   
   Her Funeral Service will take place at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 1:30 PM.  Mike Eells, of Atlantic, will officiate.	 The Committal Service will be in the Atlantic Cemetery following the funeral.  The family will meet with relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19.
   
   There will be Open Visitation Tuesday, February 18 from 8:00 to 5:30 PM and on Wednesday, February 19 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM when the Family will Meet with Friends.
