VELYN MARDELL MEYER Evelyn Mardell Meyer, 90, longtime resident of Atlantic, passed away at Saint Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Evelyn was born the daughter of John and Martha (Paulson) Anderson on January 12, 1920 in Brighton Township north of Atlantic, Iowa. She attended Pymosa #9 and Vistoria #9 country schools until the 8th grade. On August 15, 1939, Evelyn was united in marriage to Walter Gerhardt Meyer in Oregon, Missouri. The couple was blessed with a family of four children. Walter passed away February 11, 1995. Folks will remember Evelyn"s smiling face on visits to the various work places where she was employed. Her jobs included the Cass County Sunshine Home, Berry Nursing Home and Gibson's department store. She also collected the 1970 census by driving around farm to farm. Evelyn lived in Iowa her entire life until the last six years which she spent in Colorado with her daughter and family. Evelyn is survived by her children, Gene Meyer and wife Terri of Atlantic, Jon Meyer and wife Patty of Atlantic and Sheri Larson and friend Jimmy Walker of Arvada, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Julie Meyer Hays of Exira, IA, Aaron Meyer and wife Julie of Atlantic, IA, Joni Chantry of Iowa City, IA, Jesse Meyer and friend Annie of Dillon, CO, Jared Meyer and wife Linsy of Empire, CO, Lenette Larson and Lenny Larson of Golden, CO and Zak Larson of Arvada, CO.; step-grandchildren, Savanna McCann of Council Bluffs, IA, Rachel and Patrick McCann of Atlantic, IA.; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1995; daughter Patricia Meyer in 1962; parents, John and Martha Anderson; sisters, Ethel Goettsch and Mildred Brink.Funeral Information Services will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa on Saturday, March 13 at 10:00 AM with Pastor David Krueger from the Presbyterian Church in Walnut, Iowa officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at 9:00 AM, one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery. Roland Funeral Service of Atlantic is caring for arrangements.
