Obituary for Cora Alice Meyer

Cora Meyer, 75, of Atlantic and Salem Nursing Home in Elk Horn passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.Cora was born the daughter of Henry and Hattie (Garey) Chapman near Massena, Iowa on November 5, 1928. She grew up and graduated in Massena and married Duane Meyer on October 29, 1950. They farmed near Lewis and moved into Lewis in 1962 where they lived until 1995 when they moved to Atlantic.The couple raised three children and Cora was known in the community as a cook at Vans Chat and Chew. She worked at Gregersen's Drugstore and then Dimig's Drugstore which became Fann Pharmacy for thirteen years. She then worked in the dietary department at the Cass County Memorial Hospital here for 17 years. For a pleasant pastime, the couple enjoyed sitting on their front porch and visiting with friends, neighbors and family.Cora is survived by one daughter Connie Collins and husband Michael of Atlantic, two sons, Raymond Meyer and wife Dawn of Atlantic and Rickey Meyer of Atlantic; ten grandchildren, The Stanley's: Bryan of Salt Lake City, UT, Michael of Omaha, NE, Nathan of Atlantic and Matthew of Omaha; The Collin's: Stephen of Worthington, MN, Christi of Columbia, MO and Angela of Maryville, MO, Wendy Rasmussen of Atlantic, Chris Meyer of Atlantic, Travis Meyer of Fort Stewart, GA; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Rasmussen and several nieces and nephews.Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane; four brothers, Claude, Clyde, Andrew and Ernest Chapman; three sisters, Dorothy Eden, Bonnie Nelson and Thelma Hatfield.Funeral InformationServices for Cora will be held Monday, December 29, at the Roland Funeral Home at10:30 AM with Reverend Leon Hodges on the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
