Anthony Mendenhall

Tony Mendenhall, 30, died on August 9, 2003, in San Diego, California. He was born the son of Connie Mendenhall on December 20, 1972 in Iowa City, Iowa. Tony grew up and attended school in Missouri Valley and lived in Logan and Council Bluffs, Iowa. During this time, Ronnie Swanger became a very special person in Tony's life. Tony enjoyed the visits he spent in Exira, Iowa with his grandparents, Nels and Lillie Abildtrup. His special interest was in playing baseball and in later years he worked in construction. Tony lived in San Diego the past several years. He is survived by two brothers, Brad Andreasen of Audubon, Iowa and Randy Mendenhall of Jackson, Georgia; two sisters, Gina Lillie of Clarksville, Tennessee and Paula Talbot of Bristol, Connecticut; and aunt Jeanene Petersen and husband Allen of Exira; an uncle Max Abildtrup and wife Judy of The Village, Florida; cousins Cyndi and Keith Nelson and their children Sara of Chicago, IL and Ryan of Carroll, IA, Tracy and Richard Johnston and daughters Beth and Meg of Exira, Kristi and Tom Simpson and their children Justice, Kasie and Tate of Brayton, IA, Mark and Julie Abildtrup and their daughters Dacia, Dana and grandson Trevor of McGregor, IA and Julie and Doug Aksamit and their son Michael of Nebraska City, Nebraska.Tony was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents and a cousin, Terri Petersen.Funeral InformationServices for Tony will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Friday, August 15, 2003, at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Alan Seehusen of the Evangelical Free Church. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery at Exira, Iowa.
