Leroy Mehlmann

LeRoy Mehlmann LeRoy Mehlmann, age 96, of Massena, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, Iowa. LeRoy Merrill Mehlmann was born to Otto Fredrick and Elsie Mae (Mattheis) Mehlmann on October 22, 1914 at Massena, Iowa. He graduated from Massena High School in 1931. On March 8, 1939, LeRoy was united in marriage to Ida Eleanor Spieker in the Atlantic Methodist Parsonage. He continued farming the family farm northwest of Massena until his retirement in 1980. LeRoy was a life long member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church, a 62 year member of the Masons and a member for over 50 years of Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Ida Mehlmann of Griswold, IA; children; Corinne Beals and husband Jim of Ely, MN, Lavonne Krauth of Gainesville, FL, Keith Mehlmann and wife Phyllis of Massena, IA, Phyllis Berry and husband Kent of Cumberland, IA, Sharlotte Michel and husband Steve of Henderson, NE, and Shirley Good and husband Larry of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Glee Helvie of Corning, IA and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ira Spieker and wife Wanda of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Debbie Layher and husband Steve, Andrea Walsh and husband Jimmy, Danny Beals and wife Linda, Patty Ewert and husband Paul, Bernie Krauth and wife Debbie, Denise Mehlmann, Steve Mehlmann and wife Melissa, Cindy Copeland and husband Dave, Dana Freeman and husband Jeremy, Darcie Berry, Brandon Good, Doug Michel and wife Marcy, Kevin Michel and wife Angie and Jeff Michel; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Elsie Mehlmann; a grandson, T. J. Good; a sister Lura Hammer; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Pearl Spieker, brother-in-law, Bill Helvie and son-in-law, John Krauth.Funeral Information There will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home daily from 8:00 - 5:30 with a family visitation Friday evening, April 29, from 5:00 - 7:00. Services for LeRoy will be at the funeral home on Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 in the morning with Reverend Dick Krambeck officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 in the Massena Center Cemetery.
