Obituary for Larry Floyd McNally

LARRY FLOYD MCNALLY Larry Floyd McNally, 64, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Kaiser Hospital in Hayward, CA. Born September 26, 1944 to William F. McNally and Genevieve G. McNally, he was the first of five children. He attended Cal State Hayward in 1963 and met his future wife Sheila Ramos in 1964 at the college bridge card tournament when he confused her with her twin sister Shirley his actual tournament partner. Later that year, Larry joined the armed service with the Green Berets branch of the U.S. Army. He returned and married Sheila in 1971. Afterwards they wanted to start a family right away. Sadly their first child, William, died at child birth in 1972. Soon after, another tragedy struck the entire McNally family with the passing of Larry"s father William F. McNally in April 1973. Joyously their first healthy son, Christopher, was born just sixty days later. Three years later the family grew yet again with the birth of Jeffery. All through his life he enjoyed a variety of activities. Fishing with his wife and sister-in-law, hunting with his brothers, playing cards like bridge and poker with the family and extended family, challenging siblings and other family members to games of chess and backgammon, enjoying golf in his leisure time and even competing with world dart champions while vacationing each year in Las Vegas. Larry really knew how to have a good time. He also made sure everyone around him did too, paying for all the children in the family to go see movies, play games, go to restaurants or to just get out of the house and have fun. His kindness knew no bounds. From opening his home to a friend of the family in need, to talking his mother into rescuing the family dog from across country, he tried everything in his power to make everything right. Larry will be missed by many friends, family and extended family. Larry is survived by: sons, Christopher and Jeffery McNally of Newark, CA; one sister Sheryl (Everett) Gravel of Tracy, CA; brothers, Dale (Sue) McNally of Richland, WA, Paul (Patsy) McNally of Vallejo, CA and Everett (Sol) McNally of Fairfield, CA; step-father Fred Lavett of Seaside, CA; aunts, Kathleen McFadden of Atlantic; Opal Frisbee of Adair; Helen McFadden of Council Bluffs, Donna Petersen of Alta, IA and Carolyn (Ken) Siepes of Osceola, NE; uncles, Wayne (Shirley) McFadden of Atlantic, IA, Wilbur "Webb&" (Hazel) McNally of Norfolk, NE and C.
