Robert McDermott

Robert J. McDermott, 76, a long time Atlantic resident, died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.Robert was born at home, November 12, 1927 near Walnut to Harry & Josephine McDermott. He grew up and attended rural school near Walnut, IA, and graduated from Walnut High School in 1945. Bob enjoyed a life-long love of the farming community and lifestyle. Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Gearhart at the Harlan Methodist Church on January 16, 1949. As a married couple, Bob and Shirley raised their family and farmed in the Grant, Harlan, Irwin, Marne and Atlantic areas.
