Naomi McCormick

Naomi Fern McCormick, age 79, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday morning at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Naomi was born August 6, 1925, in Iowa City, IA, and was adopted one month later by Elmo and Mary (Miller) Enarson. Before she was three, her mother Mary passed away, and she went to live with her Aunt Nellie Enarson and grandmother Celia Enarson. She graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1943. On July 27, 1956, she married Willard (Mac) McCormick in Kansas City, MO. Their children were Carol Andersen and Michael McCormick. Naomi was previously married to Everett Daugard. She worked for several years for Metropolitan Farm Sales Divison, and two years for Dick Bell Insurance. She worked for Northwestern Bell as a service representative for 34 years, retiring in 1982.Naomi was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic where she met her husband singing in the choir. She was also a member of Questers, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Heritage House Guild, and several bridge clubs. She loved her family and loved to entertain. Naomi is survived by her husband Mac; daughter Carol of Atlantic and son Michael and wife Joyce of Coralville, IA; sisters-in-law Eileen Carson of Oakdale, NE, and Frances Schmidt of Camarillo, CA; brother-in-law Richard McCormick and wife Joan of Salinas, CA, and by many nieces, nephews and a few special cousins.She is preceded in death by her father Elmo; her aunt Nellie and grandmother Celia. Services for Naomi will be Friday, May 6, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic with Reverend Gary DeGeest officiating.
