Cleo Mathisen
Cleo Mathisen of Atlantic, Iowa passed away Friday morning, July 20, 2007, at the Heritage House in Atlantic at the age of 90. Cleo was born to Henry Julius and Mabel (LeFleur) Ruhr on December 24, 1916 in Atlantic, Iowa. She attended school in Atlantic and graduated with the class of 1935. On February 17, 1937, Cleo was united in marriage to Derold "Matt" W. Mathisen. For many years Cleo and Matt owned and operated the Coast to Coast store in Atlantic and Cleo worked along with Matt with the Iowa Fireman"s Association. She was active in the United Church of Christ and was a member of Business and Professional Women. Cleo enjoyed gardening, animals and cooking. Friends and family especially looked forward to her pies. She was always ready to help others and was generous with her time and talent. She had a delightful sense of humor and most often was seen with a warm smile on her face. Surviving Cleo are her son, Edwin and his wife Dixie of Spring Grove, Illinois; one brother Johnie Ruhr and his wife Nelda of Atlantic, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jeffery Mathisen of Largo, Florida, Stephanie Hipskind and her husband Stefan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Michelle Risberg and her husband Kevin of Flower Mound, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, A.J. and Lucas Hipskind, Adelaide, Aidan, Audrey and Aynslea Risberg; nieces Nancy Richards, Rita Utz and Lori Paulsen; nephews William Royalty, Joel Royalty, Paul Ruhr and Kevin Ruhr; many grand nieces and nephews.
