Velma Marchant

Velma MarchantVelma Marchant, 97, of Atlantic, daughter of Russell & Mary (Clouse) Deardorff, was born April 21, 1912 in Guthrie County, Iowa. She passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.She graduated from Yale High School in 1930. She then married Lester Marchant and they made their home in Des Moines, Britt and then Cumberland, Iowa. Velma and Lester spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas. In 1995, she became a resident of the Heritage House. She enjoyed crotchet, fishing, dancing and playing golf. Velma also sold Avon for many years.She was a member of the Cumberland Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.Velma is survived by 4 nieces and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester in 1991, and 2 brothers.Funeral InformationFuneral Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Twigg Funeral Home, in Panora, Iowa with a visitation just prior to the services. Burial will be in the Yale Cemetery at Yale, Iowa.
