Robert Lee Maley Sr.
Robert Lee Maley, Sr., 75, of rural Atlantic, passed away early Monday morning, June 25, 2001, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn where he had been a resident for nine months.The son of Forest Clark and Mary Adaline (Hall) Maley, Robert was born December 2, 1925 at rural Coin, Iowa where he grew up and graduated from Coin High School in 1944. He was married to Bette Davis on March 24, 1944, in Hiawatha, Kansas and to this union, two children were born. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II. On March 20, 1976, he married Katharine Zimmerman in Wiota. His marriage to Mardelle Walter took place March 21, 1987 in Atlantic. Robert was a truck driver, delivering feed for Walnut Grove for 29 1/2 years, retiring April 2, 1987. Robert was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, the Atlantic Elks Lodge #445, and Farm Bureau. He was very sports minded in high school and all through his life. In later years he was active in fishing and bowling.Bob is survived by his wife, Mardelle; one son, Bob Maley, Jr. and his wife, Becky, of Atlantic; one daughter, Karen Stuart and her husband, Larry, of Winona, Minnesota; four grandsons, Rob Maley and his wife, Jody, and Ryan Maley all of Atlantic, Christopher and Michael Stuart of Winona, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Hanna Maley of Atlantic; a sister, Juanita Sawhill of Canoga Park, California; a brother-in-law, Glenn Adams of Clarinda, Iowa; a sister-in-law, WillaDean Boatwright of Shenandoah, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Bette June Maley in 1975 and Kathie Maley in 1986; his sister, Evelyn Adams; and a grandson, Tom Maley in 1985.Funeral InformationFuneral services were held Thursday, June 18, 2001 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Coin, Iowa.
