Ronald "Ronnie" Majerus

Ronald "Ron" Majerus, 62, a life-time resident of Atlantic, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center.

The son of Leroy Andrew and Lillian Marie (Gaunt) Majerus, he was born November 4, 1952, in Atlantic. He graduated from AHS in 1972. Ron helped unload many trucks for Merle Turner at Grant School. Always a "people person," he enjoyed helping others out and often gave rides to appointments, both locally and in Council Bluffs. Templeman's was a frequent stop for Ron, usually stopping just to visit. He was a member of the Eagles' Lodge. Pepsi or Diet Mountain Dew were constant companions of Ron's. He enjoyed horse racing, watching "Gunsmoke" and old cowboy movies. Ron was a jokester and gave everyone in his path "a bad time," always displaying that twinkling grin.

Ron is survived by his special friend, Linda Kimm; his uncle, Dick Gaunt of Columbus, NE, five cousins: Marvin (Joni) Gaunt of Norfolk, NE and their children, Michelle (Jason) McNare and Matthew Gaunt; Dan (Paula) Gaunt of Columbus, NE and their children, Ryan and Lisa Gaunt; Richard (Rita) Gaunt of Genoa, NE and their children, Amber and Sami Jo Gaunt; James (Wendy) Gaunt of Monroe, NE and their children, Heather, Marissa and Abby Gaunt; and Steve (Julie) Gaunt of Wisner and their children, Jon, Jerett and Shelby Gaunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Open visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015, 11 a.m., at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Guy Fisher of 1st Assembly, officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, Iowa.
