Obituary for
Glenn Magill
Glenn F. Magill, 73, of Atlantic, passed away peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
The son of Raymond Victor and Frances Marie Wahlert Magill, he was born October 27, 1940, in Atwood, CO. In 1958 he graduated from the Sterling High School, in Sterling, CO. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines on June 14, 1958. During his time in the Marines, he received his Sharp Shooter's Badge and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on March 16, 1962. Glenn met Patricia Ann Jeppesen in June of 1962, and they were united in marriage three months later, on September 9, in the Exira Lutheran Church. After marriage, they moved to Denver, CO, for a year, where he worked in trucking. Concurrently, they moved to Kimballton where he worked at and owned and operated the Kimballton Standard Gas Station for ten years. Colorado was always calling, so they moved back out there for 18 months before, returning to Iowa, where he worked on a farm for seven years. Later, he was employed by A.M. Cohron for 25 years, where he was Head Shop Foreman. After that, Glenn worked as a mechanic at Ed's Lawn Equipment for seven years in Atlantic.
Glenn was the current Commander of the American Legion, Post 43, in Atlantic, and in that position, Glenn has enjoyed working with students who have gone to Boys State for several years. He also helped lead the organization of the American Legion baseball tournament and helped organize American Legion scholarships and constitutional speech contests. He played slowpitch softball for many years, enjoyed bowling league, loved getting together with family and was proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a huge Broncos Fan! Glenn loved Jesus more than anything and put his relationship with Christ first in his life. Glenn was a member of the First Church of Christ.
