Obituary for Dorothy Arlene Mace

Dorothy Mace, 89, of Atlantic, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.Dorothy Arlene Hart Franklin Mace was born in Shenandoah on Nov. 4, 1921, the daughter of Oscar and Agnes Hart. She attended school in Shenandoah. She was married to Arthur Franklin and their marriage produced one child, daughter Linda Franklin Watson. They lived in Texas and St. Joseph, Mo. They were divorced, and she later married Donald Mace and they lived in Shenandoah. More recently she lived for several years in Omaha, Neb., moving to the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center April 11, 2008.She was a homemaker, wife and mother and was very independent. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, and playing Keno while living in Omaha, and enjoyed Bingo games at ANRC.She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Agnes Hart; brothers, Harold Hart and wife Lucille, Lester Hart and Leonard Hart(in infancy); former husbands, Arthur Franklin and Donald Mace; nephew, Michael Hart; grandson, Douglas Watson. Survivors include: brother, Ronald Hart and wife Tressie of Stanton, and their children, Bob Hart of Red Oak, Angie (Hart) McArdle of Red Oak and Gary Hart of Rogers, Ark; daughter Linda Watson of Audubon; grandchildren, Michael Watson of Des Moines, and Jason Watson and wife, Brooke of Atlantic; great-grandchild, Reagan Watson.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa daily from 8:00 to 5:30 with a family visitation Friday evening, January 14, from 5:00 to 7:00. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 15, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Guy Fisher from the First Assembly of God Church in Atlantic officiating.
