Obituary for Raymond Lund

Raymond (Ray) Lund, 89, a long time resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at the Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.The son of Harry William and Minnie Matilda (Knop) Lund, Raymond was born in Atlantic on September 11, 1913, and grew up attending school here. He was married to Dema Dulcena Berry in Council Bluffs, Iowa July 7, 1937. The couple settled in Atlantic where Ray was the well-known owner and operator of the Lund Service Station for 41 years.Ray was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and served in the Iowa National Guard. His hobbies included fishing and walking, and he enjoyed his family and friends.Survivors are his daughter; Janet M. Thompson and her husband, Alan of South Sioux City, Nebraska and two sons, Kenneth L. Lund and his wife, Arlene, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Richard P. Lund of West Des Moines, Iowa.Ray's seven grandchildren include: Cheryl Lawrence and her husband, Steve, of Cincinnati, Ohio, John Lund of Columbus, Ohio, Jeff Lund of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kirk Lund and his wife, Cheri of Portland, Oregon, Camy Rozeboom and her husband, Les of Doon, Iowa, Amy Treadway and her husband, David of Sioux City, Iowa, and Matthew Thompson of South Sioux City, Nebraska.He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Larry, in infancy; his parents; two sisters, Irene Fett and Geneva Held of Atlantic, a brother; Archie Lund of Atlantic and the long-term trend Johnetta Draper.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationFuneral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003. with Pastor Allen D. Hellwege of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. A burial in the Atlantic Cemetery will follow the funeral service and a luncheon will then be held at the Zion Lutheran Church.
