HARLEY C. LUKE Harley Luke, 83, of Anita, died on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Harley Clayton Luke was born the son of Roy and Winifred (Hoffman) Luke in Atlantic, Iowa on February 2, 1925. He attended schools in Atlantic. He joined the Army Air Corps at age 18 and served during WWII from June 1943 to Christmas of 1945. He was stationed in Italy and received three overseas bars; a bronze battle star, a good conduct medal and the victory medal.His occupation was painting houses and various other structures. He also built CAP Homes and roofed for Turk Roofing. Harley was friendly and outgoing. He enjoyed getting acquainted and was a great one to visit with folks. His hobby was fishing.Harley is survived by his significant other Marilyn Luke of Anita; a daughter Sharon Bennett of Council Bluffs; three sons, Mike Luke, Rex Luke and Mark Luke, all of Anita; one step son Kevin Myers and his wife LuAnn of Anita; grandchildren, Brandon Luke, Haley, Luke, Jake Myers and Preston Myers; other grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother Charles "Chud&" Luke and his wife Sandy of Atlantic and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his daughter Delores Stafford; his parents; his brothers, Morris Luke, Bob Luke and Max Luke; sisters, Jane Potter, Ruth Mahoney and Connie Runyon.Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic at 1:30 Friday afternoon, May 23. Reverend Mitch Holmes of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Anita will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Atlantic Cemetery. The Atlantic Color Guard will present military honors at the service. Harley"s family will meet with friends one hour prior to the funeral and there will be open visitation for the public until then.Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic is caring for Harley's family and the arrangements.
