James E. Ludeman
James Eaton Ludeman, 78, passed away Friday, March 9th 2007 at Heritage House in Atlantic after a long illness.The son of Harm George and Marion (Eaton) Ludeman, Jim was born July 15th, 1928 in Waukon, Iowa. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1946, and from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA in 1950. Following his graduation, Jim was inducted into the United States Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and served as a tank commander. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended South Dakota State University. He married Mary Louise Franklin of Dunlap, Iowa on May 29th, 1954. For thirty-two years Jim worked for the Farm Credit Services of Omaha, retiring in 1986 as a Vice-President. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Atlantic and served on the board of the Atlantic Golf and Country Club. In Omaha, Jim was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club serving as President in 1982. He also served as the Interim Director of the Social Settlement upon his retirement from Farm Credit Services.Survivors include his wife, Mary; two children, Sue A. Hunt and her husband Nick Hunt of Atlantic, James F. Ludeman and his wife Annette of Omaha; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Carolyn Hunt and Benjamin and John Ludeman; one sister, Ann Honig and her husband Richard of Fort Wayne, IN; one niece and one nephew. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.There will be a private family service at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 14th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, with Pastor Terry Schoenfeld of Atlantic Evangelical Free Church officiating. Following the service, a family committal will take place at the Atlantic Cemetery. There will be open visitation.
