Obituary for
Russell Dale Lough
Russell Dale Lough, the son of Leona (Klug) and William Lyle Lough, was born October 3rd, 1946, in Estherville, Iowa, and departed this life on Friday, February 24th, 2012, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 65.
He grew up in Estherville and received his education in the Estherville schools.
At 18 years of age, Russell joined the Job Corps and relocated to Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He worked in the Job Corps for several years.
In June of 1985, Russell was united in marriage to Janelle Crotty in Fonda, Iowa. He worked for Glen Paper as a truck driver hauling feed grain. Son, Seth was born to that union. The couple later divorced.
In 2000, he moved to Adair, Iowa, to share his life with special friend, Sandra Garside. He went to work for Henningsen Trucking out of Atlantic, Iowa, doing road construction, retiring from there at the end of their 2009 season. Sandra passed away February 15th, 2011. The last two years, Russell worked at the Spencer Fair as a security guard near the west Grandstand entrance. He enjoyed that job very much.
Russell will be most remembered by many for his kind-heartedness and generosity. He was a big collector of salt and pepper shakers and had a large collection of some unique ones. Russell was also a horse lover.
Grateful for having shared Russell’s life and left to cherish his memory is his son, Seth Lough of Fonda, Iowa; daughter Janelle Langner and her husband of Alta, Iowa. Brothers, Kenneth Lough, Waukon, Iowa (Gloria); Richard Lough, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters Karen Sabin, (Roger), Estherville and Connie Ford, Prarie du Chien, Wisconsin. Also special friend, Suzanne Juarez of Schaler, Iowa and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Kimberly Wilhelm, and brother-in-law, Rocky Ford.
