Lloyd Wilson, 84, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Griswold Care Center.

Lloyd Donald Wilson was born on October 17, 1937, at the family home in Grove City, southeast of Atlantic, Iowa, the son of H. Donald and Zelpha (Warren) Wilson.  After attending country school through 8th Grade, he graduated from Atlantic High School with the Class of 1955.  Lloyd lived next door to the country school he attended and in 1960, had the opportunity to buy the school house property which has served as his home for the last 62 years.   

On September 7, 1958, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marilyn Sutton at the Presbyterian Church in Griswold.

Lloyd was employed by the Cass County Engineer for a number of years and spent his time on the design of farm to market roads. He later worked with engineering firms in the area.  After becoming a licensed professional land surveyor in 1971, Lloyd started his own land surveying business which continued until his retirement in 2014, at the age 77.

He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Nishna Hills Golf Club for many years.  Lloyd enjoyed reading, playing cards, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals.  He looked forward to traveling and took a great liking to the northwestern United States and Canada, especially the area near Banff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Lola Belle, sister, Marie Nagle and brother, Dale Wilson. 

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; son, Larry and wife, Maria Galvão of Shoreline, Washington; daughter, Laura Ness and husband, Roger of Arlington Heights, Illinois; three grandsons Mario Lloyd, Max and Danny; and brother, David Wilson and wife, Gayle of Port Angeles, Washington.

Open visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, April 16th and from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 17th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.  No visitation with the family present is planned.

A private family funeral service will be held with burial at a later date in the Griswold Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
