Obituary for
Dennis R. Linfor
Dennis R. Linfor, 67, of Lewis, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Dennis Ray Linfor was born on June 29, 1949, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Joseph Emmet and Mary Ella (Frink) Linfor. After high school he began working on the steel crew at Henningsen Construction, and later returned there as the asphalt plant manager. He was dedicated to his job, rarely missing a day of work and always willing to help out whenever he was needed. He retired in June from Henningsen's after nearly 30 years of hard work day in and day out. Throughout the years he also worked for Walnut Grove and as an over the road truck driver.
In 1977, he met Pamela Mennes and the couple spent 20 years together. During this time he helped raise Pamela's eight children. What a blessing he was to have come into their lives and to them he was Dad! Dennis looked forward to family gatherings, and as the number of grandchildren grew he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Together they enjoyed goofing around, hunting and swimming. He just melted when they called him Grandpa!
Throughout his whole life he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was so proud when he purchased his first Harley Davidson five years ago. Dennis loved electrical work and tearing things apart. He might even tear it apart just because, not necessarily because it wasn't working. When he put it back together and it was working, did it really matter that he had a few extra parts? Dennis was always there when someone needed a hand.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Lois Schmitt of Atlantic; brothers, Rick (Kathy) Linfor of Atlantic and Joseph Linfor of Greeley, CO; daughters, Roxanne (Steve) Woolsey of Atlantic, Paula (Gary) Jameson of Lewis, and Keli Juhl of Atlantic; sons, Chuck (Connie) Juhl of Julesburg, CO, Dick (Jamie) Juhl of Lewis, and Kenny "Bubba" Mennes of Atlantic; lifelong companion, Pamela Mennes; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jack (Violet) Knight and Roger (Debbie) Casteel all of Atlantic; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Linfor; sisters, Sadie Linfor, Mary Ann Logue, Marcia Erlocker, Georgia Veach, Inez Abel and Myrtle Hughes; brothers, Larry Linfor, Bill Linfor, John Linfor and David Linfor; and two daughters, Christine Juhl Watson and Linda Juhl Prottsman.
