Carl Lilienthal

Carl Harry Lilienthal, 79, at Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Cass County Hospital.The son of Carl "Charlie" Henry and Hazel Marie (Davidson) Lilienthal, Carl was born December 8, 1922 north of Atlantic. He lived in that area most of his life and attended the Atlantic community Schools. He was united in marriage to Doris "June" Headley on May 15, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri. He farmed from 1942, retiring in 1998. He entered the U.S. Navy during WWII and served on a submarine. Carl was a member of the First Lutheran Church south of Wiota, Iowa.Surviving are two sons, Carl F. Lilienthal and wife Cindy of Atlantic, and James Lilienthal of Atlantic; a son-in-law, Bill Richter of Boone, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Burkamper and husband Court of Boone, Jason Richter of Yarmouth, Julie Foglesong and husband Ken of Boone, Curtis Lilienthal of Atlantic, Carrie Dixon and husband David of Des Moines, Michael Lilienthal and wife Tonya of Atlantic and Nathan Lilienthal of Shelby; three great-grandchildren, Jaelynn and Caden Burkamper of Boone and Natalie Dixon of Des Moines; and several cousins.Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Doris "June"; and a daughter, Ellen Richter.Funeral InformationServices for Carl will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic at 1:30 P.M. Pastor Ted Weishaupt of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wiota, Iowa will officiate. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
