WOODROW "DAVID" LIGHTLE David Lightle, 92, formerly of Griswold and Atlantic, passed away at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.Woodrow David Lightle was born the son of Theodore and Rispy Catherine (Jones) Lightle, February 5, 1917, near Warsaw, Missouri. He grew up attending Corn Hill and Butcher one room country schools. David was wed to Edna Verl Shelton on September 21, 1940 in Gerster, Missouri. David and Edna lived in Griswold from 1967 to 1992 and were blessed with two daughters. He was later married to Nellie Briles and lived in Griswold and Atlantic. Iowa. David will be remembered for being faithful in church and serving the Lord. He was a member of the First Assembly of God of Atlantic. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, wood working, gardening and deer hunting. He was most comfortable in his overalls and loved lemon pie and produce from his own garden. A memorable trip the family took was to Yellowstone National Park. David worked as farmer and a carpenter, building new and remodeling houses.His survivors include his daughters, Glenda (Ron) Brownlee of Orient, Iowa and Janice (Wayne) Farrand of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Kevin (Cammy Moon) Brownlee of Creston, Iowa, Dan (Megan) Brownlee of Macksburg, Iowa, Wes (Sarah) Farrand of Des Moines, Iowa, Christina Farrand of Rogersville, Missouri and Anna Farrand of Ames, Iowa; great grandchildren, Katie, Alex and Adam Brownlee of Murray, Iowa, Alissa and Leah Brownlee of Macksburg, Iowa and Amelia and William Farrand of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister Esther (Tom) Cates of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edna in 1992; his second wife Nellie in 2008; four brothers, Ralph, Albert, Willis and Theodore and three sisters, Eva Jane Wilson, Beulah Voorhees and Ruth Owens.Funeral InformationServices for David will be held at First Assembly of God on Monday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. in Atlantic, Iowa. Pastor Guy Fisher will officiate. There will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home from 8:00 to 5:00 daily. Family will meet with friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Committal will be in the Pleasant Township Cemetery south of Griswold, Iowa.The family has requested any memorials be designated to First Assembly of God of Atlantic and Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
