Jon Allen Lewis
Jon Allen Lewis, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska, at the age of 46 years.
Jon was born in Red Oak, Iowa to George Richard and Jane Hedwig (Nelson) Lewis on December 21, 1965. He attended school at Griswold. After graduation, Jon joined the Army. He was disabled due to a severe back injury after a motor vehicle accident. Jon enjoyed reading, watching the military and history channels on TV. He loved to talk and was an avid historian on any of the wars and conflicts this country has endured. Jon was looking forward to traveling later this month to the air show in Ohio. Jon was proud of his children and talked to them often.
Surviving Jon are his children, Shae and Ashley Lewis of Red Oak, IA and Amelia Lewis of Manhattan, KS; siblings, Pat Light of Lincoln, NE, Peggy Ponder of Pratt, KS and Bill of Bellbrook, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. He was close to great niece Rayne Williams and great nephew Vincent as well as their mother, Moriah, of Omaha, NE. Jon spent many hours visiting in their home. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and James Lewis.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 16 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Burial of ashes will be planned at a later date.
