James R. Lewis

James (Jim) R. Lewis, age 54, of Atlantic, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

James was born on February 16, 1957 in Red Oak, IA, to George Richard and Jane Hedwig Nelson Lewis. He attended school in Griswold, IA through the 10th grade and later finished with his GED. James enjoyed movies, especially universal monster movies, Marilyn Monroe and collecting movie memorabilia. He also was a fan of old TV classics as in the Adam's Family, Munster's and I Love Lucy. James nearly always had a pet cat. He was a very quiet person, compassionate and caring. He became disabled and was unable to work.

He is survived by sisters, Pat Light of Lincoln, NE and Peggy Ponder of Pratt, KS; brothers William Lewis and wife Rocel of Centerville, OH and Jon Lewis of Atlantic; nieces, Moriah Williams and family of Omaha, NE, Renee Freeman of Omaha, NE, Dr. Jill Lewis Bryson and husband Dr. Pat Bryson and Ashley Lewis of Red Oak, IA; nephews, Don Sullivan of Nebraska City, NE, Larry Light of Portland, OR, Grant Lewis of Centerville, OH and Shay Lewis of Red Oak, Iowa; and a host of cousins.

There will be a visitation with the family on Friday, January 13, from 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. No services are planned. Condolences for the family may be left on their website at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
