SAM LEVINESam Levine, 88, life long resident and retired auto dealer of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at Heritage House in Atlantic on July 3, 2008.Sam was the son of Isadore "Ike&" and Clara (Pearlman) Levine, born March 10, 1920 in Omaha, NE. His family moved to Atlantic when Sam was 8 and he graduated from Atlantic High School in 1938.When Sam was 12, he began working with his father in the used auto and parts business at 3rd & Oak Streets in Atlantic. In 1945, Sam"s father acquired a Hudson new car dealership and Sam, together with his brother Morris, worked with their father. In 1952 the brothers took over the then American Motors dealership. Edsel and Chrysler products were later added. The business was sold to what is now Deter Motor Company and in 1993, the brother began selling used cars until that business was sold to Car Guys in 1996.Sam married Eunice Geneva (Stammer) Templeton on March 17, 1964 in North Palm Beach, FL and remained married until her death in 1996. Sam was a dedicated promoter and contributor to the Boy Scouts of America, YMCA and Heritage House in Atlantic. He was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Nishna Valley Shrine, Pymosa Masonic Lodge #271.He is survived by his nephew Michael Buckner of Tavares, FL; cousins, Leonard Bush of Tucson, AZ, Robert Bush of Los Angeles, CA, Nellie Bernstein of Los Angeles, CA; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Harms of Laurens, IA.Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eunice; his brothers Harry in 1941, Morris in 1997, and his sister Martha Levine Buckner in 2006. He also leaves behind a host of friends in the community he loved.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Pastor Chuck Smith of the First Baptist Church will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic. There will be open visitation; also a Masonic service Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. until a family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.Funeral InformationSam's funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.
