Leanne Belcher, 64, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at UnityPoint Health - Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Leanne was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Ronald and Helen (Huffman) Dant on January 25th, 1957. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Atlantic where Leanne attended school until she graduated from Atlantic High in 1975. During Leanne’s life she moved throughout the Midwest and was blessed with two children, Lynette and Nathan. After many years she decided to move back to her favorite town, Atlantic, Iowa.
When Leanne returned to Atlantic, she became a nursing assistant and worked at Heritage House, Atlantic Care Center and as a personal care attendant. During her time as a care giver, she met Clay Belcher, and in 2006, Clay and Leanne were married and enjoyed eight wonderful years together on Chestnut Street. Throughout her life, she worked as a freelance housekeeper for a number of businesses and personal homes and many clients felt that she was actually part of their families.
The last number of years, when she wasn’t taking care of others, she would joyfully spend time at her retirement home at Lake Okoboji, Iowa. On many occasions, Leanne delighted to open her home to family and friends throughout the summers.
While Leanne frequently expressed her love for her home town of Atlantic, her second home at Okoboji and the State of Iowa, she ultimately cherished each and every moment with God, her children and her grandchildren. She would focus most of her family activities on local, home town events, such as attending parades, visiting cemeteries, going out to eat, and just spending time with her church family at First Assembly of God, now known as Hillside Hope. At First Assembly, she selflessly volunteered for Sunday school, Christian education events and attending the annual Women of Faith conference held in Des Moines or Omaha. Seldom did anyone see her without a smile on her face or writing a smiley face on a note pad or paper. Wherever Leanne went, she always had a positive attitude and spread joy throughout her world. Her smile and joy was absolutely contagious.
Leanne is survived by her father, Ronald Dant, of Atlantic; step-mother, Norma Dant of Atlantic; daughter, Lynette (Hecthor Guevara) Marr-Ladd of Bryan, Texas; son, Nathan Marr of Atlantic; sister, Cindy (Curt Rush) Blair of Atlantic; grandchildren Cadence, Mercaideze, Aubrey, Irelyn, Moxley, Kale and Callie; niece, Macey Blair; nephew, D.J. Blair and many beloved friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clay Belcher; mother, Helen Dant, and her grandparents.
