LeAnn Fry

LeAnn Fry, 86, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Heritage House in Atlantic. 

LeAnn was born on November 5, 1936, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Lee and Florence Roberta (Carlson) Butler.  She graduated from Atlantic High School and received her Master’s Degree from Minnesota State University at Mankato.  She worked at a vocational rehabilitation center as a counselor before moving to Maryville, Missouri, where she operated a bookstore.  LeAnn was united in marriage to Carrol Fry; the couple was married for 22 years.  In 1979, LeAnn moved to Atlantic and worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services as a Social Worker.  

She enjoyed shopping for antiques, taking photos, and going out to eat.  LeAnn was both an avid reader and classical music enthusiast.  The St. Louis Cardinals were her team; she rarely missed one of their televised games.  Her cats were very dear to her and were her constant companions. 

LeAnn is survived by her two first cousins and their families, Mary Greene of Emmetsburg, IA and Pat Tobin of Ainsworth, IA; former spouse, Carrol Fry of Maryville, MO; and sister-in-law, Sandy Fry of Atlanta, GA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Butler.

A Celebration of Life Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - Noon., Saturday, June 3rd at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic; lunch will be served at Noon at the funeral home.   A Memorial Graveside service, hosted by the family, will be held at 1:00 p.m., at the Atlantic Cemetery.
