Deane Layland

Deane LeRoy Layland, son of Alice Layland in the late LeRoy Layland, passed away due to liver failure, April 2, 2003 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 4 days.He graduated from Exira High School in 1969 and attended Northwest Missouri State College at Maryville. After college, Deane moved to Kansas City and was employed at NAPA for four years. In 1976, he became self-employed as a professional carpet/tile installer until the time of his death.Proceeding him in death was his father, and paternal and maternal grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Alice Layland of Atlantic, Iowa; son Shannon and wife Katja of Jena, Germany; daughter April and husband Matt D"Orvilliers of Kansas City, Kansas; sister Diane Berkley and husband Tom of Exira; brother Dan of Atlantic, Iowa and other relatives and friends.Funeral InformationA family gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Schonfeld of the evangelical free church officiating. Following cremation, a private family committal service will be held at the Atlantic Cemetery.
