Obituary for William Henry Lawton

William (Bill) Henry Lawton, 86, passed away at his home in Marne on Sunday, January 9, 2005.Bill was born north of Lewis on March 1, 1918 to Joseph W. and Hazel G. (Baxter) Lawton. He attended school in Lewis graduating from Lewis High School in 1935. After graduation, he started farming and farmed his entire life. On March 15, 1945 Bill was married to Eva M. Crum in Lewis. Two children were born of this union. Bill was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Farm Bureau, Cass County Fair Board, of which he was president from 1965-1967, Meals on Wheels, Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Bill was also a tour guide for the Hitchcock House in Lewis. On March 3, 1995, Bill was united in marriage to Betty G. Reimer at the Glad Tidings Church in Omaha.Bill is survived by his wife Betty; one son, Kenneth Lawton and wife Jean of rural Lewis; one daughter, Carol Johnson and husband Darwin of Breckenridge, CO; five grandchildren, Jennifer Brace and husband Scott of Littleton, CO, Carrie Youde and husand Steven of Buffalo, N.Y., Jessica Lawton of Lakewood, CO, Christopher Johnson of Portland, OR and Elizabeth Johnson of Breckenridge, CO; one great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jean Brace of Littleton, CO; six step children, Max Reimer of Dearborn, MI, Kathie Gates and husband Steve of Brooklyn, MI, Mrs. Jerry Reimer of Shawnee, KS, Debbie Lucus of San Diego, CA, Bill Reimer and wife Lillian of Houston, TX and Alan Reimer and wife Nancy of Atlantic, IA; seven step-grandchildren, Eric, Bailey, Joshua, Crystal, Heidi and Alicyn Reimer and Derek Lucus; brother-in-law Kenneth Kremer of Lewis; sister-in-law, Peggy Kilroy and husband George of Urbandale, IA; five nephews, Mark Crum and Tom Crum of Urbandale, IA, Mick Crum of Des Moines, IA, Tom Kremer of Austin, TX and Scott Kremer of Petaluma, CA; one niece, Jan Horn of Elgin, TX and a number of cousins.He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eva; one brother, Lt Kenneth B.
