Darrel Larson

Darrel Larson, 79, died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday, September 30, 2005.Darrel was born the son of Chris and Irene (Meggers) Larson on October 6, 1925, in Avoca, Iowa. He attended school in Avoca, moved to Logan in 1946, and then to Atlantic. Darrel was married to Ila Georgia Barker at the First Lutheran Church of Avoca, Iowa on December 17, 1950. The couple made their home in Atlantic at 500 East Third Street where they enjoyed raising a son and daughter. Darrel was self employed for years as an interior decorator. He took pride in painting commercial buildings and homes for 49 years. He was a member of the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Atlantic. He served in the Navy in WWII from February of 1944 to June of 1946. He was then involved in the Avoca American Legion, Post 227. Darrel"s family and friends will remember his love for the outdoors, being fond of camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and taking walks. His hobbies included woodworking and repairing clocks. Darrel and Ila enjoyed wintering in Texas.
