Theodore Larsen

Theodore Svend Larsen, Jr., age 83, of rural Atlantic, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center. Ted was born in Kirkman, Iowa on August 24, 1926 to Theodore and Bernice (Saville) Larsen. He graduated from Atlantic High School then attended Dana College. On February 25, 1947, Ted was married to Lois Lavon Deskins in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. He farmed until 1970 and then worked for Walnut Grove Feed Company. Ted was a member of the St. Paul"s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, the NGA Club, Woodcarvers and the Farmer"s Market. He is survived by his children, Thela Rubey and Dave Post of Red Oak, IA, Gail Larsen and wife Donna of Emerson, IA, Glen Larsen and wife Gloria of Anita, IA, Peggy Hamper and Eric Willougby of Hot Springs, AR, Denise Newberg and husband Pat of Oakland, IA, Sandy Aelleman of Olathe, KS and Bill Larsen of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Lisa Stocksleger and husband Scott, Kim Bond and husband Damien, Tina Larsen, Trisha Nichols, Tom Larsen, Chris Larsen and wife Andrea, Cherese Guyer, Corey Hetrick and wife Alisha, Jason Newberg and wife Jennifer, Brett Newberg and wife Brandie, Zachary Newberg and fiancé Laura, Jordan Newberg and Tabitha Garcia; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Andersen and husband Earl of Oregon and Nellie Faye Hagberg and husband Ray of Spencer, NE; sister-in-law Leona Eagle of Wessington Springs, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Bernice; his wife Lavon; and his brother-in-law Ted Eagle.Funeral Information There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home Saturday from 8:00 - 5:00 and Sunday from 1:00 - 5:00. Their will be a family visitation Sunday evening, May 9, from 5:00 - 7:00. Memorial services for Ted will be held Monday, May 10 at the St. Paul"s Lutheran Church in Atlantic at 11:00 following the graveside service at 10:00 at the Wiota Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Meyer will be officiating. The Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic is caring for Ted"s family and the arrangements.
