Larry Devin

Larry Joe Devin, 73, of Atlantic, Iowa, formerly of Lewis, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic.

Larry was born on December 6, 1950, in Forest City, Iowa to Robert and Colleen (Smith) Devin.  He graduated from Corwith Wesley High School in Corwith, Iowa in 1969.  He spent most of his life owning and operating semi trucks, mainly hauling livestock around the Midwest.  Larry greatly enjoyed the great outdoors, spending time with friends and his family. He was known to be a humble man who was proudest to be called “Grandpa.”

When Larry wasn’t trucking, he was active in the Zion Lutheran Church Choir, Lion’s club and was the State Chairman for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. While with the Foundation, he met lifelong friends and experienced once in a lifetime traveling and big game hunting opportunities.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mathias of Atlantic, Iowa; son, James (Amy) of Knoxville, Iowa; daughter, Nicole (Paul) Oldani of Chicago, Illinois; son, Chase (Jessica) Hawk of Fredonia, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Justin (Madison), Molly Jo, Angus, Ostara (Devante), Freya, Torrin, Leif and Anthony; siblings, Keith (Denise), Jean (Bob) and Ilene (Scott); and many beloved friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Bob and Colleen Devin.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service, Friday, December 29^th, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 29^th, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.  Family welcomes attendees to the church fellowship hall for a luncheon following the Memorial Service.  

Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
