Shirley Lang

Shirley Lang, 90 years old, a life long resident of Atlantic, Iowa died January 22, 2008 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic. Shirley was the daughter of Earl John and Josephine (Cady) Lang. She was born in Atlantic on May 1, 1917. She attended Atlantic schools and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1934. She was later employed as book keeper for several businesses in Atlantic and from 1958 she worked for the Cass County Department of Social Service until 1979 when she retired. She was a 50 year member of the First United Presbyterian Church, treasurer of "Meals on Wheels&" for several years, and a 50 year member and treasurer of BPO Does and treasurer for five years. Shirley"s sister Maxine will remember her as a loving sister and best friend. Her nieces and nephews will remember her as a "fun-loving second mother&" to them all. Her survivors are a sister Maxine Scybert; her two nieces Nancy Scybert of Sacramento, California and Jo Deen Mento and husband Ben Mento of Yardley, Pennsylvania; three nephews Jeff Lang and wife Lee Ann of Ankeny, Iowa and their family, David Lang and wife Bobbette of Brandon, Mississippi and their family, and Richard Scybert and wife Joyce Jensen and Richard"s daughter Samantha Scybert of Atlantic, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Jack C. Lang and his wife Delores V. Kennedy Lang, and her brother-in-law Chester Scybert Jr. Roland Funeral Home of Atlantic, Iowa is caring for Shirley"s family and the arrangements.Funeral InformationHer memorial will be in Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Friday afternoon, January 25 at 1:30. Pastor Gary DeGeest of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic will officiate. The committal service will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
