Velma Lamberty

Velma Lamberty, 95, of Atlantic, died on Friday, June 9 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Velma was born the daughter of James E. and Viola (Derry) Jordan near Wiota, Iowa on April 21, 1911. She was reared in the Wiota area and graduated from Wiota High School in 1928. Velma Married William "Bill" F. Lamberty in Wiota on April 21, 1934. She was a member of the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic.Velma is survived by her sister-in-law, Grace Lamberty of Atlantic, IA and nieces and nephews including, Betty Crozier and her husband, Leonard of Atlantic, IA, Carolyn Wilson and her husband, Morris of Atlantic, IA, John Lamberty and his wife Bernese of Mesa AZ, and Cleo Lamberty of Virginia Beach, VA, Helen Stillian of Omaha, NE, Maxine Prochnow of St. Louis, MO, Marge Showers of Antioch, TN, Jean Knatt and her husband, Tim of Sioux City, IA, Judy Stender of West Liberty, IA, Leo Showers and his wife, Dorothy of Lincoln, NE, Dennis Showers and his wife, Margot of Missouri Valley, IA and Lester Showers and his wife, Linda of Avoca; and Peggy Wheatley, who made her home with Velma and her husband, for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her two brothers, James Jordon and Jess Jordon. A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 13 at the S. S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. There will be a wake service at the Roland Funeral Home at 6:00 P.M. followed by a visitation until 8:00 P.M. on Monday evening. The committal will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.
