Obituary for Maxine Lambertsen

Maxine Lea Lambertsen, 80, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at her home.

The daughter of Walter Howard and Marie Dorthea (Juhler) Christensen, she was born December 13, 1936, southeast of Wiota, Iowa, where she grew up and attended the Wiota Community Schools. After school she worked at Robinson Hardware in Atlantic for a few years. She was united in marriage to Vernon Lambertsen on July 20, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union: Lynn, Ricky, Todd & Lesa. They farmed south of Wiota and then East of Marne for ten years, raising row crops and milked cattle. After they retired from farming in 1965, they made their home in Atlantic. In November of 1966, Maxine was employed as a CNA with the Atlantic Care Center for three years and later for Heritage House for five years; she then went to the Cass County Memorial Hospital for 32 years, until retiring in 2002. Vernon passed away December 23, 1993. Maxine was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.

Maxine's hands were always busy! She loved to needlepoint and crochet, creating countless baby blankets; each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren received their own needlepoint quilt. She enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears and loved polka music and dancing. Maxine was very family oriented and loved to spend time with them.

Maxine is survived by her children, Ricky Lambertsen of Essex, Iowa, Todd (Billie Jo) Lambertsen of Gladstone, IL, Lesa Adams of Kansas City, Missouri, Keith Lambertsen of Garwin, Iowa, Kay Nosekabel of Atlantic, Iowa; her daughters-in-law: Sharon Lambertsen of Greenville, North Carolina, Lyn Lambertsen of Atlantic; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister Mildred Klemish of Anita, Iowa; her sister-in-law Sondra Christensen of Elk Horn, Iowa; her brother-in-law Gary Wagner of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Lambertsen; her sons: Lynn Lambertsen, Kent Lambertsen, and Terry Lambertsen; her parents'; her brothers and sisters: Mervin Christensen, Milford Christensen, Margaret Wagner, Mardelle Maley; and many distant relatives.
