James LaMaster

James Pearson LaMaster, 90, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed away Monday, September 29, 2003, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.Pearson was born December 8, 1912 to Arling Ray and Amanda (Pearson) LaMaster in Guilford, MO. He spent his early years in Guilford until moving to the Marne, Atlantic, Griswold and Lewis areas. Pearson farmed and also owned and operated a well drilling business serving southwest Iowa. In the fall of 1979, he returned to Atlantic. On February 14, 1942, Pearson was united in marriage to Louise Evelyn Eichhorn in Maryville, NO. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic and the Lions Club and he received the Lion of the Year Award in 1991. Pearson helped establish the Lions Club Annual auto Show.He is survived by one daughter Beverly Ann Therkildson and her husband Robert of Elkhorn, NE; one son Gary LaMaster and his wife Cheryl of Plymouth, MN; three grandchildren, Erik Robert Therkildson, Amanda Louise Therkildson and Scott James Therkildson all of Elkhorn, NE.Pearson is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers Arling Ray Jr. and John Donald (J.D.) LaMaster.Funeral InformationServices for Pearson will be held Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sue Hyndman officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
