Joan Kuehl

JOAN KUEHL Joan M. Kuehl, age 83, a long time resident of rural Marne, Iowa passed away at Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa, November 30, 2010. Joan was born October 15, 1927 to Octave and Myrtle Nelson of Walnut, Iowa. She graduated from Walnut High School. She trained to be a nurse's aid. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlantic where she played the piano for church services; worked with missions; served as treasurer for many years; and always loved helping the elderly people in her church. She was united in marriage to Everett E. Kuehl on August 19, 1947 on the Nelson farm near Anita. Everett and Joan took over the Kuehl family farm until they retired in 1992. Joan loved her family; was a caring wife, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. She was a determined, strong willed lady and had a very giving heart. She made lots of chocolate chip cookies and good things to eat for kids, grandkids, great grandkids and friends. Her coffee tins filled with cookies were enjoyed by many. Together, Mom and Dad moved to the Heritage House in Atlantic in August of 2010. Joan is survived by her sons, Dale Kuehl and wife Pam and Dennis Kuehl and wife Suzanne, all of Atlantic; son Dr. Dallas Kuehl and wife Mary Pat of Houston, TX and daughter Diana Stucker and husband Dennis of Liverpool, NY; grandchildren, J.D. Kuehl and wife Melanie and children, Emma, Hannah, and Dillon of Urbandale, IA, Danielle Kuehl of Waukee, IA, Jennifer Arthur and husband Mike and children, Taylor, Alexis and Peyton of Frankfort, IL, Stephanie Kuehl of Seattle, WA, Ashley Kuehl of Atlantic, IA, Dr. Derik Stucker and wife Carrie of Las Cruces, NM, Darcy Buza and husband Mike and children, Gavin and Coltan of Liverpool, NY. She is preceded in death by her husband Everett Kuehl; her father Octave Nelson and mother Myrtle Rold Nelson; sister Wilma Nelson and brother Norman Nelson; father-in-law Ernest Kuehl, mother-in-law Eva Kuehl; sister-in-law Doris Kuehl Zimmerman; brother-in-law Herchel Zimmerman; nephew Dwayne Zimmerman and many more family members and loved friends. Funeral InformationJoan's funeral service will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, December 2, 2010. Pastor Art Anderson of Waukee, Iowa will officiate. The committal service will be in Brighton Township Cemetery northeast of Marne, Iowa. There will be open visitation Wednesday, December 1 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M and Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service at 2:30 P.M.
