Everett Kuehl

Everett E. Kuehl, age 83, a life long resident of rural Marne, Iowa, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 20, 2010, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. He was born October 24, 1926 to Ernest and Eva (Herbert) Kuehl of Marne, IA. Everett lived on his family"s century farm his entire life, attending country school there. He was united in marriage to Joan Marjorie Nelson on August 19, 1947 on the Nelson family farm near Anita, Iowa and they took over the Kuehl family farm until they retired in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atlantic, Cass County Fair Board member, 4-H leader, member of the Cass County Zoning Board, and a member of the Marne-Elk Horn Telephone Company Board. Everett was proud to be a resident of Marne for 83 years and to have 4 children with degrees from Iowa State University. Most of all, he loved his family very much and was a great husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He was a gentle soul, full of love and patience and always had a smile on his face. In August of 2010, they moved to Heritage House in Atlantic and he enjoyed his time there and appreciated the staff that helped care for him. Everett is survived by his wife Joan of Atlantic; sons, Dale Kuehl and wife Pam and Dennis Kuehl and wife Suzanne, all of Atlantic; son Dallas Kuehl and wife Mary Pat of Houston, TX and daughter Diana Stucker and husband Dennis of Liverpool, NY; grandchildren, J.D. and wife Melanie and children, Emma, Hannah, Dillon of Urbandale, IA, Danielle of Waukee, IA, Jennifer Arthur and husband Mike and children Taylor, Alexis, Peyton of Frankfurt, IL, Stephanie of Seattle, WA, Derik Stucker and wife Carrie of Las Cruces, NM, Darcy Buza and husband Mike and children Gavin and Colton of Liverpool, NY and Ashley of Atlantic, IA. He is preceded in death by his father Ernest and mother Eva; sister Doris Kuehl Zimmerman; brother-in-law Herschel Zimmerman; nephew Dwayne Zimmerman; father-in-law Octave Nelson; mother-in-law Myrtle Rold Nelson; sister-in-law Wilma Nelson and brother-in-law Norman Nelson.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at the funeral home Thurs & Fri, 8:00 - 5:30 for Everett. No family visitation is planned. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, October 23, at 10:00am at the Roland Funeral Home with the committal in the Brighton Township Cemetery northeast of Marne.
