Stanley L. Knop
Stanley Knop, 84, died in his home in Atlantic, on Saturday morning, March 24, 2007 He was born the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Shepperd) Knop on November 5, 1922. He attended school in Atlantic and graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1940. Stanley married Ramona Frank at Saint John"s Church south of Lyman on February 16, 1958. He farmed their land south of Atlantic. The couple was blessed with a son and a daughter and enjoyed their three grandchildren. Stanley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He served his church as a deacon and an elder. His hobbies included reading, writing short stories, drawing, watching sports (especially Iowa Hawkeyes), walking with his friends at the hospital, and playing pinochle with friends for over 49 years. He will be remembered by all as being friendly; he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He liked to kid and everyone enjoyed his ornery streak. Stanley is survived by his wife, Ramona; his son, Michael Stanley of Atlantic; his daughter, Diane Probasco and her husband David of Urbandale; his grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler and Megan Probasco; brother-in-law Louis Frank and wife, Pauline.
