Raymond Walter Knop



Raymond
Walter Knop of Atlantic, Iowa
passed away Friday evening, August 12,
2011, at the Heritage House in Atlantic,
Iowa, at the age of 85.

Raymond
was born the son of Walter Frederick and Cordia Berry
(Collins) Knop on August 9, 1926
in Atlantic, Iowa. He attended school in Atlantic,
graduating from the Atlantic High
School.
Raymond farmed until the late 1970's and also worked for Wayne
Feeds. On August 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ardis
Elaine Smith. They were blessed with the
birth of a son and a daughter. Raymond
was a member of the Zion Lutheran
Church in Atlantic
and he was a volunteer and a board member for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed playing golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes,
the St. Louis Cardinals and wood working; however, his favorite thing was
playing cards.

He
is survived by his wife, Ardis of Atlantic; his son, David Knop and wife Debra
of Omaha, NE; his daughter, Susan Kientz and husband Thomas of Brighton, IA; a
granddaughter, Christina Kientz of West Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Knop)
Jensen and Helen Smith both of Atlantic, IA.; and several nieces and nephews. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents,
brothers, Wilbur Knop, Leslie Knop and his wife Lorriane and a sister, Eleanor
Tibken and her husband Albert.

There
will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic,
Iowa Monday, August 15, from 8:00 - 5:00 then the family will be present to
meet with friends from 5:00 - 6:00. Services for Raymond will be held on August
16, at 2:00 p.m., at the Zion
Lutheran Church
in Atlantic.
Pastor Kenneth Davidson will officiate with committal in the Atlantic
Cemetery. The Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic
