Obituary for
Ardis Elaine Knop
Ardis E. Knop, 94, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Heritage House in Atlantic.
Ardis Elaine was born on May 10, 1922, in Elliott, Iowa, the daughter of Loy William and Grace Willard (Geesaman) Smith. She graduated from Elliott High School.
On August 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raymond Walter Knop in Griswold, Iowa. In addition to helping on the farm, Ardis worked for many years as a bookkeeper at a local farm implement dealership.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Women's Neighborhood Club. Ardis enjoyed crocheting and looked forward to playing pinochle with friends.
Ardis is survived by her daughter, Susan Kientz and her husband, Tom of Brighton, Iowa; granddaughter, Tina Kientz of Grimes, Iowa; and daughter-in-law, Debra Knop of Mesa, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Loy and Grace Smith; husband, Raymond Knop; son, David Knop; brother, Neale Smith; and special friend and sister-in-law, Helen Smith.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday, March 6, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
The family has suggested memorials go to Zion Lutheran Church.
