Obituary for
Connie L. Kluever
Connie L. Kluever, 76, formerly of Atlantic, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Connie was born in Atlantic on October 26, 1939, the daughter of J. Howard and Marguerite Louise (Smith) Kluever. During high school she worked as a clerk at Woolworth's and was a member of Order of the Rainbow. Connie was a talented musician accompanying Miss Delma Wright for choral groups, concerts and plays. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1957. Following high school she attended Iowa State Teachers College, currently UNI, and studied Library Science. Shortly after she left the Midwest for a more fast paced life in Bronxville, NY. Connie was a lifelong librarian, and worked nearly 35 years for Sidley-Austin-Brown & Wood Law Firm, in the former North Trade Center Building in New York City.
Following her retirement in 1999, she was active in local senior organizations and meals on wheels. Her love for the library was fulfilled by many hours spent volunteering there. Connie was an avid reader and would read just about anything she could get her hands on. The opportunities for ballets, orchestra, and other various cultural events were abundant, and she took in many. She enjoyed time with her family, and looked forward to them visiting her at her home in Pointe Pleasant, New Jersey. Connie spent almost half the year there, but had recently decided to make it a permanent stay. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atlantic.
Connie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Gary and Sherry Kluever of Nevada; niece and husband, Lynne and Dr. Brad Johnson and their son, Callan of Oklahoma City, OK; nephews, Darren Kluever of Harlan and Christopher Kluever and wife, Kim of Lake Latawana, Missouri, and their children, Haley and Christian; and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J. Howard and Marguerite Kluever.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Atlantic Cemetery. The family invites you to join them at the funeral home at 10:30 to process to the cemetery. Following the services a time of lunch and fellowship will be held at Roland Funeral Home.

The Librarian’s Prayer
By Norbert Herman, C.P.
Lord, keep a watchful eye over these books that they may respond to man’s quest for knowledge; may bring peace and direction to man’s unrestful soul; may afford certitude to man’s doubting mind and relaxation for his troubled emotions and may always speak of You, the Author of all knowledge and wisdom, even if only in a whisper. Amen
