Obituary for Eugene Lee King

Eugene Lee King, 81, of Northglenn, CO, formerly of Adair, IA, passed away on August 4, 2007, at Elms Haven Care Center in Thornton, CO.
Eugene was born in Adair on March 2, 1926, the son of Gladys (Evans) and Roland E. King. As a child he attended school in Adair and later went on to study at Simpson College for two years.
In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Army. While faithfully serving his country for two years, Eugene fought in the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars. His additional military decorations include a Meritorious Unit Commendation and the United Nations Service Medal.
He married the love of his life, Wanda Mae (Smith), on October 25, 1953. They farmed near Lewis, IA for a short time before making their home in Northglenn, CO, where he worked as a bus driver for 33 years. He and Wanda were always together. Those who knew them would say that their relationship always seemed so perfect and they were a very happy couple. Some of their most beloved times together were their travels to Hawaii, for which they also had a "Hawaiian" theme room in their home. They were blessed with five children.
Eugene is survived by four sons: Mark King of Audubon, IA, Brent King of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike King and Brian King, both of Strasburg, CO; two sisters from NE, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents and his daughter, Gina Harvey (King).
