Rozell Marilla Kay
ROZELL MARILLA KAY Rozell M. Kay, age 91, a life long resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the Heritage House February 17, 2008 where she had lived for the past six years. Rozell was born October 24, 1916 in rural Elk Horn, Iowa, the daughter of George Prop and Minnie (Jessen) Petersen. Rozell was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. She graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1936 and went to work at the Green Bay Lumber Company with her uncle George Nissen in Elk Horn. On August 31, 1946, she was married to Clifford Kay in Troy, Kansas then they moved to Atlantic. She worked for Sears, Roebuck, the Dairy Treet and as a housekeeper at the Cass County Memorial Hospital for 23 years where she always shared her great smile and kind words. She also worked at the Atlantic Country Club for Don and Florence Enockson as a cook"s helper. Rozell is survived by two daughters, Janice Peterson of Atlantic and Phyllis (Gary) Ehle of Lyman; her grandchildren, Cynthia (Doug) Younger of Kansas City, MO, Rod (Ruth) Christensen, Jeff Hetrick, Kevin Peterson, Jeff (Shelly) Christensen all of Atlantic; David (Lindy) Ehle of Belle Plaine, IA and Kris Ehle of Barns City, IA; great grandchildren, Aaron Younger (his fiancé Bonnie Harris) of Kansas City, MO, Myles Hetrick, Stephanie, Samantha and Brody Peterson, Seth and Chad Christensen, Dylan and Tyler Christensen, Cherese Guyer all of Atlantic, Corey (Alicia) Hetrick of Hubbard and Misty (Brian) Kepner of Castana, IA; great-great grandchildren, Royce Kepner, Castana, Ashleigh Waltz, Morgan and Aubrey Guyer of Atlantic; also special family friends Curtis and Rita Pegues. She also has one sister-in-law Berneice Peters of Walnut, IA and a brother-in-law Lester (Elleen) Wheatley of Marne, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband Clifford in 1963; her parents; her sister Mildred Wheatley; her brother Alvin M. Petersen, her son-in-law Daryll Lee Peterson and her granddaughter Tamara Jo Hetrick.Funeral InformationA memorial service for Rozell will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the St Paul"s Lutheran Church in Atlantic with a committal service at the Atlantic Cemetery at 9:30 AM. Pastor Dennis Meyer and Pastor Sally Meyer will officiate.
