DELORES MAE KAUFFMAN

Delores Kauffman, recently of York, Nebraska and formerly of Marne, Iowa, passed away at the Hearthstone Care Center in York on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at the age of 84 years.
Delores Mae Reuwsatt was born in Nishnabotna Township in Crawford County, Iowa on January 12, 1928 to Ahrend and Anna Marie Jensen Reuwsatt. Delores graduated from Denison High School on May 30, 1946 and received her normal training certificate from Denison High School in March of 1949 and July of 1952. She started teaching in Nishnabotna Township in September 1946 and taught in country schools for a few years before enrolling at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Delores graduated in August of 1953 and started teaching third grade in Oakland, Iowa with an annual salary of $2800. She was baptized in the Lutheran parsonage in Denison on September 20, 1936 and was later baptized at the First Baptist Church in Denison on April 5, 1942.
On December 22, 1954, Delores married Clifford Wayne Kauffman. After their marriage they farmed near Avoca, Iowa and then moved to a farm north of Marne, Iowa. Clifford and Delores purchased a corn shelling business in September of 1962 and operated this business until December of 1993. They continued to live in Marne until October of 2008 when they moved to the Hearthstone Care Center in York, Nebraska to be closer to family. Clifford and Delores adopted Theresa and Billy in May of 1962.
Delores was active in the Marne Fire Department helping with pancake feeds and other various activities. She was also active in the Marne Garden Club, Marne Centennial Committee and den leader for cub scouts and boy scouts. She taught Sunday school and Bible school at the Redline Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford of York, NE; daughter, Theresa Tolle of Omaha, NE; her son, Bill Kauffman and wife, Toby of York, NE; grandchildren, Nichole (Kevin) Lawrence of York, NE, Jennifer (Keith) Hill of Council Bluffs, IA, Amanda (David) Kauffman-Templeton of Bremerton, WA, Nathan (Shala) Tolle of Council Bluffs, IA, Heather (Brandon) Williams of Council Bluffs, IA and Ashley (DJ) Wagner of New Oxford, PA; great grandchildren, Terrance Bladt, Abigail Bladt, Jonathan Heisser, Melissa Bladt, Dalton Ekeler, Levi Ekeler, Madeline Templeton, Alexandria Templeton and Knickolaus Templeton. Preceding Delores are her parents; sister, Lavonne Kauffman and an infant brother, Alfred Kauffman.
There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 18 and 19, from 8:00 until 5:00 and Thursday, Septemberr 20, from 8:00 until noon. On Thursday afternoon Delores will be transported to the Redline Church of Christ for a family visitation that evening from 5:00 until 7:00. Services for Delores will be held at the church on Friday, September 21, at 10:00 am with committal in the Redline Cemetery.
