Kathy Juhl, 89, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home in Atlantic.
Kathy Juhl was born November, 4, 1932, in Onawa, Iowa, to Still and Myrtle Gray. She had a very active youth while growing up on a farm a couple of miles from Onawa with her twelve brothers and sisters. Never was there a dull moment. Kathy worked hard all of her life. One day her brother Floyd brought home a young man named William Juhl, from Brayton, Iowa. After a year the two were married on September 2, 1952, in Brayton, Iowa. Early in their marriage Kathy and Bill lived in Brayton before moving to Atlantic where they settled. They raised their children on Spruce Street.
Kathy loved collecting porcelain dolls her entire life, but her favorite pastime was caring for her grandkids or numerous other children as needed. When she was not taking care of children, she was hard at work at The Pines restaurant. During her caregiving hours she was also able to stay on top of the latest soap operas; “As the World Turns” being one of her favorites. Kathy was a firm, dedicated, and committed mother, wife and friend. Her devotion to those she knew will always be remembered.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Juhl; their children, Denny Juhl, Debra Juhl, and Darla (Larry) Sandbothe; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Gray; and sister-in-law, Sandra Richmond.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Still and Myrtle Gray; sons, Daniel Juhl and David Juhl; daughter, Dawn Lammert; grandson, Jeremiah Juhl; in-laws, William (Sr.) and Dorothy Juhl; daughter-in-law, Peggy Juhl; brothers-in-law, Dee and Richard Juhl and twelve brothers and sisters.
