Elsiebel Kasch-Noe, 96, of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of Marne, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Elsiebel was born on July 2, 1923, on the Harvelawn Farm north of Marne, Iowa, the daughter of Fred R. and Rilla W. (Harvey) Long. She attended country school at Clay #8 and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1941. Following graduation, she attended Grinnell College for two years.
In 1939, Elsiebel joined the Rainbow Girls and in 1942, The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a lifelong member and later became a part of both Liberty Chapter #230 in Marne, Iowa, and the Chapter in Weslaco, Texas. Elsiebel was also a member of the United Methodist Church and Elks Auxiliary in Weslaco. As a young woman, she showed quarter horses and was affiliated with the Iowa Saddlehorse Association.
She volunteered her time as a Covenant Visitor, visiting shut-in's for over 30 years. She took cancer patients to appointments for 25 years, and worked with the American Cancer Society making heart pillows and lap robes for cancer patients during treatments at the local medical centers. Outside of her volunteer work, Elsiebel enjoyed yard work, gardening, dancing, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Elsiebel is survived by her daughter Linda S. (Tim) Parr of Alamo, Texas; son, Dennis L. (Sherry) Carver of Goldendale, Washington; grandchildren, Ryan (Tammy) Carver of Meridian, Idaho, Lindsey (Tony) Crawford of Edmonds, Washington, and Dacia (Ryan) Paganelli of Gig Harbor, Washington; 11 great grandchildren, niece, Sandy A. (Marsha Borders) Peggs of Atlantic, Iowa; nephew, Fred L (Darlene) Peggs of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and numerous cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rilla Long; husbands, Clarence F. Kasch and Ed Noe; and her sister, Wilma Peggs.
An Order of Eastern Star service by Liberty Chapter #230 and funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Nancy Jensen of the United Church of Christ officiating. Committal services will take place in the Brighton Township Cemetery, north of Marne. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held at the Marne United Methodist Church.
