Leora Kline Karstensen
Leora Kline Karstensen, 89, of Lewis, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 at the Griswold Care Center where she had been a resident.The daughter of John and Bell Lane, Leora was born May 7, 1911 in Fort Blackmore, Virginia. At age 13 she moved to Oakland, Iowa with her sister and brother-in-law, Osha and Clint Culbertson and lived there with them until she was united in marriage to Joseph Klein in the late 1920s. In 1945 they moved to the Griswold area. Joseph passed away in 1949. Her marriage to Herluf Karstensen took place December 21, 1952 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Following marriage, they lived on a farm south of Atlantic and later moved into the home that Herluf built on south Chestnut Street. Later they moved to Park Rapids, Minnesota where they lived for ten years and then moved back to Lewis, Iowa. Leona was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.Surviving are two daughters-in-law, Lola Klein Lockwood and her husband, Stan, and Velma Klein Restivo and her husband, Joseph, all of Omaha; five grandchildren, Lorna Hearst and her husband, Don, of Omaha, Scott E. Klein and his wife, Melanie, of Longmont, Colorado, JoLeah Ishii and her husband, James, Joe Klein, and Teresa Johnson and her husband, Stewart, all of Omaha; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a half-brother, B.C. Lane of Virginia.
