Mailyn Jane Kappler
Marilyn Jane (Nichols) Kappler, 67, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2002.The daughter of Edwin and Frances (Dealy) Nichols, Marilyn was born March 3, 1934 in Atlantic, Iowa. She grew up in the Lewis community and attended the Lewis High School graduating in 1951. Marilyn owned and operated a cafe in Estes Park, Colorado. In 1967 she moved to Kearney, Nebraska to manage the Holiday Inn. After eighteen years there, Marilyn operated inns at Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Clear Lake, Iowa and Topeka, Kansas. She retired due to poor health.Surviving are her husband Jim Kappler of Topeka, Kansas; a daughter Cindy Raymond and a grandson Gregory Edwin Raymond of Evergreen, Colorado; her mother Frances Nichols of Atlantic; a sister Alyce Lane and her husband Bob of Atlantic; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.She is preceded in death by her father Edwin Nichols; grandparents, Joe and Etta Dealy and Charles and Jane Nichols; and a daughter Melissa.Funeral InformationA graveside service will be held for Marilyn on Friday, March 8, 2002 at the Atlantic Cemetery at 1:00 PM with a memorial service following at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa at 1:30 PM with Rev. Douglas Langmade of Kansas City, Missouri officiating.
