Obituary for Maxine Dorsey Kaminky

Maxine Dorsey Kaminky, 82, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of William and Eva Angeline (Joy) Garside, Maxine was born October 5, 1918, in Massena Township northeast of Massena where she grew up and attended country grade school and Massena High School. She attended Capitol Beauty School in Omaha and Thomson Beauty School in Des Moines. Maxine married Walter Dorsey April 16, 1938, in Maryville, Missouri and later married Harry Kaminky December 22, 1972, in Iowa city. Maxine was a hairdresser in Anita for 61 years, opening her first shop September 4, 1937, and was a member of the Hairdresser's Association of Iowa. She attended the First Church of Christ in Atlantic; enjoyed the Atlantic and Brayton senior citizen centers; and also the Sunshine Club in Anita. She loved to play cards and interact with people.Surviving are two daughters, Joann Symonds and her husband, Gary, of Atlantic and Sue Ellen Krogh and her husband, Richard, of Plano, Texas; one son Dennis Dorsey and his wife, Sherry, of Cypress, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kelly Hendricks and her husband, Jack, of St. Joseph, Missouri, Stacy Gray and her husband, Mike, of La Vista, Nebraska, Kevin Dorsey and his wife, Stacey of Aurora, Colorado, Jodie Wersinger and her husband, Jon, of Springfield, Missouri, Julie Wood and her husband, David, of Ozark, Missouri, T.J. Krogh and his wife, Courtney, of Cedar Park, Texas, and Dawn Wages and her husband, Doug, of Houston, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Kaminky; one son, Tom Dorsey; one granddaughter, Nicole Krogh; five sisters, Elva Cron, Fern Darrow, Eva Jensen, Myrtle Krauth and Frances Harris; and one brother, Merle Garside.Funeral InformationA memorial service was held for Maxine on Monday, June 11, 2001, at 10:30AM at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Kesterson officiating.The interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.
